Welcome to West Chelmsford UMC's Lay MInistry page.

This page is a ministry of reflection about living in relationship with God, with each other and this life we create together. These are written by members of the congregation for WCUMC. If you have a reflection you want to share,  send us an email.  We are happy to post it

The Prayer I Do Not Pray
There are prayers which are easy to pray and prayers which are not. I suppose it is different for each of us, but I think it is safe to venture a guess we each have a prayer we dare not pray, a hope we do not whisper, a sorrow we do not share. It can be safer to hold onto a hurt than to pray for healing, especially if the hurt defines us. It can be safer to remain in statis than to pray for the blessing which brings great opportunity, especially if the blessing will change us.
So here is a true confession, I do not pray for God’s will to be done. I pray about a lot of things for other people, but for myself never for God’s will to be done. Why? Perhaps God will ask of me something greater than I want to give.  What are the prayers you do not pray? As we grow in faith, for all the prayers we do not pray; let us have the faith to pray them

Dear God, I surrender to You my work and my desire for work. I surrender to You my fear, and I surrender to You my money, and I surrender to You my debts. I surrender to You my sense of failure, and I surrender to You my shame. I surrender to You my dreams and my visions, and my hopes. Amen.
