Christian Education

Coming Soon!
at the Holiday Fair
Don’t forget to stop by the children’s room at the holiday fair on December 7th from 9am – 3pm. The Christian Education Committee will have crafts and other activities available for children to work on while parents shop/volunteer at the fair.
Winter Epiphany Festival and Potluck Dinner
Mark your calendars for January 5th when we will celebrate the winter season and the start of Epiphany. Following our church service, we will have some outside activities including snowmen building, sledding (snow permitting) and time by the fire! Of course, we will also have some indoor activities for those who don’t want to brave the cold weather. The Christian Education Committee will be providing hot dogs to roast over the fire for lunch and we ask attendees to bring a side dish to share. If you have any questions, please speak with a member of the Christian Education Committee.
What’s happening in SS?
Worshipping in the Sanctuary
On the first Sunday in Advent, December 1st, we will be “hanging the greens” or in other words decorating the church for the Advent and Christmas season. There will be several parts for everyone to actively participate in this exciting event in the church so the Sunday school program will remain in the service for the whole hour. The youth and children’s choir will be leading the music on that Sunday. On December 22nd the Senior Choir will present their annual cantata. The Sunday school program will be in the worship service for the whole service so that everyone in our church family can hear the familiar Christmas story in a new way. A coloring book featuring the themes from each section of the cantata will be given to each child sixth grade and under who would like one.
Worshipping on Christmas Eve
On Christmas Eve, we will have three opportunities for worship. The service at 4pm will be a children’s Christmas pageant with congregational carols and special music provided by the children’s choir. The services at the 8pm and 10pm services will be similar with music presented by the Celebration Ringers and Singers at 8pm and the Festival Ringers and the Senior Choir at 10pm. A special brass group will also take part in the 8pm and 10pm services. Children are welcome at any of the services and there will be a special gift activity for kids 6th grade and under to do during which ever service they attend.
No Classroom Lessons on December 29th
There will be so classroom lessons on December 29th, but all children and youth are encouraged to attend worship with their families.
Connecting with Christ
Daily Prayer during the Holidays
As we move into the holiday season, finding time to slow down can be difficult. One way to help yourself slowdown is to include prayer in your daily routine. You can even use everyday items to help you remember to take a moment to slowdown and pray. For example, every time you see a table, take a minute to say the following prayer:
God, thank you for my friends and family. Help me remember to spend time with the people I love. Amen.
You may find that your holidays are less stressful if you take an extra moment to pray.
